Childrens program for Flag Day.
The kids started the day with a multi-media program about the history of our American Flag. Then they 'drilled' with our colonial soldiers before our flag parade! We marched around Miller House and then joined Ann Fisher Miller to hear about what life was like for colonial kids during the Revolutionary war.
Fun was had by all!!

Restoration of the headstone for
Civil War soldier
Joseph Townsend Hatfield
Young Joseph died of disease in Harpers Ferry on March 2nd, 1863, at the young age of 17. His headstone had been broken for years and DOLL made repairing his stone our project for 2023. We contracted with Master Stone Carver Robert Carpenter, who also created the replacement headstone for Ann Fisher Miller in 2015, to repair Joseph's stone. The rededication of his stone on June 4th, 2023, was attended by many including the congregation of the White Plains Presbyterian Church who welcomed us to repair this stone.
Songs Joseph would have known were sung, followed by a gun salute by Civil War reenactors and recollections of his life. It was a memorable and moving ceremony.
Thank you to all who attended and participated.
